Qisashome holds their stories at home…
When political violence colonises home, we are left searching for it in our bodies, in our memory, on a land, in objects, in the stories we tell, in the art we make, in each other. Qisashome is a home for stories about home, written by the hands who built it, who lived it, who knew it, who loved it or struggled with it, who remember its colors, its smells, its people, and what it meant, or did not mean, to belong there.
What is Qisashome?
Qisashome is a collective memory archive documenting what political violence leaves behind in our homes, memories, bodies and relationships. It brings together stories and creative works from across the SWANA region and its diaspora, preserving what people have lived, remembered and carried from home as knowledge and as part of the region’s shared memory.

Beyond the archive
Qisashome is also a non-profit association that creates spaces for stories to emerge through creative writing workshops, both in-person and online, storytelling events, and collaborations, through which it advocates for personal stories as an essential part of how histories shaped by political violence are remembered.
