For storytellers
Who are story facilitators?
Someone who walks beside your writing, and leaves the story entirely yours.
Who they are
A story facilitator is a writer, researcher, or journalist by profession, or a trained volunteer who accompanies you throughout the process of sharing your story with Qisashome. Through careful listening and gentle questions, they help you work through the three moments outlined in our editorial guide: the before, the rupture, and the after.
A facilitator’s role is to help you find the shape, the voice, the memory of your story. This is a single session lasting one to two hours, and it happens only if you need it. When you reach the submit your story section, you will find this as an option to choose.
Working with a facilitator is optional. Some storytellers arrive with a finished story and go straight to an editor. Others prefer to talk first. In both ways, Qisashome will meet you where you are.
What they do
- 01
They Listen
The conversation is simply about listening.
- 02
They Ask Questions
They guide you through the simple form of story: the before, the rupture, and the after.
- 03
They Do Not Write
Every suggestion is a question. Your voice, your way of telling, remains yours.
- 04
They Hold Pace
You decide how fast this moves. There is no pressure, no deadline.
What they will never do
- Write the story for you or in your name.
- Reframe your experience to fit an external narrative or an institutional agenda.
- Share anything you have told them outside the editorial process.
- Publish anything without your signed consent and your approval of the final text.
